A Cambridge English test taken on computer, in modules. The modules are reading, listening, writing and speaking. Reading and listening adapt to you, getting harder when you answer right and easier when you answer wrong. You do not pass or fail. You get a score from 140 to 210, which is a level from B1 to C2.

There is no fixed price, each centre sets its own. In the centres we checked, it goes from £35 a module to £195 for all four skills in London, and from RM200 a module to RM550 for all four in Malaysia. Not every centre sells single modules. Some only offer the full test.

Yes, at the centres that offer it, and the certificate is the same. You need a Windows or macOS computer, a webcam, a wired headset and a closed room where you are alone. Some centres require you to be 18. Results take a little longer, 6 to 8 working days. Not every centre offers it. Some centres only test in their own rooms.

Many do, but each one sets its own rules. Cambridge says more than 1,300 organisations recognise it. In Malaysia, the Ministry of Higher Education, the MQA and EMGS accept it for university admission. Always check your university’s own page before you book.

No. Linguaskill is not on the Home Office list of Secure English Language Tests (SELT), so it does not work for UK visa applications. For a UK visa you need a test from that list.

It depends on how many modules you take. Reading takes 40 minutes and listening another 40, with a limit of 59 each because they are adaptive. Writing takes 55 minutes and speaking 16. All four in a row take about two and a half hours.

Between 160 and 179 points. B1 goes from 140 to 159, C1 from 180 to 199 and C2 from 200 to 210. Each module gets its own score, and if you take several you also get an average.

Neither. There is no pass mark. The test reports your level and your score, and whoever asks for it decides which level is enough.

From three working days. Cambridge gives 3 to 5 working days at a centre and 6 to 8 from home, for sessions of up to 500 people. You check them on the Metrica platform. Some pages promise instant results, but the time that counts is the one your centre gives you.

Cambridge does not put an expiry date on it. Whoever asks for it often sets their own time limit, so check what your university or employer accepts.

Same format and timing, different context. General is about study, travel, technology and everyday work. Business is about buying and selling, office situations, business travel and human resources. In the long writing task, General asks for an essay and Business for a report.

Two since 08/10/2025, an email and an essay or report, in 55 minutes. Before, it was one task in 45 minutes, so any material that says that describes the old test.

From B1 to C2. Below 140 points it gives no level, so if your English is below B1 the test will not give you a useful result.
