Choose your modules

151 minutes in total, 4 modules

Before you start

  • Each module has its own clock, which starts when you open it. If it reaches zero, whatever you have done is handed in.
  • A module you have handed in cannot be reopened. You move on to the next one with a break in between.
  • For Speaking you need a microphone (transcribed in your browser) and a quiet place. For Listening, headphones.
  • The score is our own estimate, not an official Cambridge result.

How the full practice test works

  • You choose the modules. Linguaskill modules are booked separately, so you can take one, two, three or all four.
  • Each module has its own clock and its official length. Reading 40 minutes, Listening 40, Writing 55 with its two tasks and Speaking 16 with its five parts.
  • A break between modules. When you hand one in you see which comes next and start whenever you like with the “Next module” button.
  • Writing and speaking are marked at the end, task by task, with a score for each criterion. If automatic marking is not available, you mark yourself with the same rubric.
  • Your progress is saved in your browser. If you reload the page, you can pick up where you left off.

How long it takes: 151 minutes if you take all four

The timings follow Cambridge’s official reference: 40 minutes for Reading, 40 for Listening, 55 for Writing and 16 for Speaking. All four modules add up to 151 minutes, not counting breaks.

Cambridge does not publish the exact preparation and answer seconds for each Speaking part. The ones in this test are our own and are there to train your pace, not to measure the real exam.

How your score is calculated

Each module gives an estimated score on the 140 to 210 scale and the matching level, from B1 to C2. Reading and Listening come from the highest level you hold with 60% correct; Writing and Speaking come from the marking of each task.

The average covers the modules you took, rounded to the nearest whole number. A module below B1 is shown but left out of the average, as on the Cambridge certificate.

It is an estimate, not an official score. Cambridge does not publish how it turns correct answers into points, and the real exam is adaptive.

Full practice test: frequently asked questions

  • Do I have to take all four modules? No. Tick the ones you need: the report gives the average of the ones you take.
  • Can I stop and carry on later? Yes. What you have done is saved in your browser and you can resume it. The module clock continues from the last point saved.
  • Is what I write or say saved? Only in your browser. At the end, the Writing and Speaking text is sent to an automatic AI marker to assess it, and this site does not keep it.
  • Which browser do I need for Speaking? Chrome or Edge for automatic transcription. In others you can type what you would say.
